Swimming the Kama in Perm
60 people took part in the sportive event. The swim was timed to the 300th anniversary of Perm and was held within the project «Kama swimming», which is the winner of the XXV city competition of socially significant projects «The City is Us».
The first swim through the Kama was organized in 2000 by the «Tonus» winter swimming and hardening club. The tradition of swimming the river became annual, but usually involved swimming in cold water in June, so only those specially trained people could participate. In 2023, the swim was moved to July so that non-winter swimmers could also take part.
On July 2, 60 people made the start, 45 of them swam across the Kama, and the rest took part in satellite swims - 200 and 800 meters. The absolute winners of the swim through Kama became Anton Yastrebkov (Perm) and Maria Troikina (Moscow), who overcame the distance from the left bank of the river to the right in 26 and 33 minutes respectively.
– The collaboration of the «walrus» club and the School of Healthy Swimming has already borne fruit. We train and harden together, and now we do joint activities, maintaining traditions and attracting more to the open water swimming - said the organizers.
The event was held within the framework of the project «Kama swimming», which is the winner of the XXV city competition of socially significant projects «The City is Us».
